James Madison University is a comprehensive, coeducational state university, located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Enrollment is approximately 18000. The primary focus of the department is undergraduate teaching, with an active research program in that context. The department includes very active groups in statistics, applied and computational mathematics, pure mathematics, and mathematics education.
